The best time to trek the Annapurna Circuit is during spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November), as these seasons offer the most ideal conditions for trekking, with clear skies, comfortable temperatures, and stunning mountain views.

Spring (March to May)

Spring is a wonderful time to be on the Annapurna Circuit. During this season, the weather is mild, with daytime temperatures ranging from 10°C to 20°C (50°F to 68°F) in the lower regions. As you trek higher, the air gets cooler, but it's still comfortable for trekking. The trails are especially beautiful in spring, with blooming rhododendrons and other wildflowers adding a burst of color to the landscape.

The mornings usually offer clear skies, which means you’ll be treated to fantastic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. The weather is mostly stable, though there’s a chance of light showers in late May, so packing a light rain jacket is a good idea.

Autumn (September to November)

Autumn is often considered the best time to trek the Annapurna Circuit. This season offers the most stable weather conditions and some of the clearest views of the mountains. After the summer monsoon, the skies clear up, offering bright, sunny days with perfect visibility. It’s a great time for trekking, with daytime temperatures similar to spring—pleasant for walking, but cool at night, especially at higher altitudes.

There’s very little rain during this time, so the trails are dry and safe. Plus, autumn offers the chance to experience Nepal's biggest festivals, like Dashain and Tihar, adding a unique cultural experience to your trek.

Winter (December to February)

Winter can be a challenging but possible time to trek the Annapurna Circuit. The lower areas are still manageable, but once you reach higher altitudes, especially near Thorong La Pass (5,416 meters), the cold becomes intense, and heavy snow can make some sections impassable. This is not an ideal time for most trekkers, but if you’re well-prepared for the cold and want a quieter experience, it could be an option.

Monsoon (June to August)

The monsoon season is the least favorable time to trek the Annapurna Circuit. Heavy rain, slippery trails, and frequent landslides make trekking difficult and risky. The clouds often obscure the mountain views, and the paths can get very muddy. However, if you’re keen to trek in more remote, rain-shadow areas like Manang, you can still make it work, though it’s far from the best experience.

In short, spring and autumn are the best times to trek the Annapurna Circuit. You’ll get the most pleasant weather, incredible views, and an overall safer and more enjoyable trekking experience.
