This is the story that Amaliah has shared.

"Amany's adventure began as she grew up in Egypt. As is customary in Egypt, she memorized the final three Juz (chapters) of the Qur'an but stopped as an adult. She is now 48 years old, has three children, and works as a researcher at a university in London. During lockdown, Amany found she had free time at home and wanted to resume her Hifz trip.

She valued having a tutor and liked group online lessons with people of comparable skill levels since they were more stimulating than one-on-one classes. Her teacher would recite a page to the class each week, offer Tafsir on the verses they would memorize, then allow students to ask questions and give them a week to memorize the page.

After a year, Amany's teacher was no longer available, and she struggled to motivate herself. She discovered another buddy who could read the Qur'an with proper tajweed and help her memorize it. Amany greatly benefited from having a committed buddy to aid her with her memorization. She also began using Tarteel, an excellent app for testing and memorization.

Amina Mujela-Botic memorized the Qur'an for about ten years before completing it in January 2022. Amina was born in Bosnia and Herzegovina and graduated from the Faculty of Islamic Studies in Sarajevo. She is married and works as a student affairs coordinator and copywriter at Jannah Institute. Her Hifz journey began in high school when her buddy Zekijja encouraged her to join.

However, it was only sometimes accessible. Amina was afraid of beginning her Hifz trip for fear of being labeled as someone who started but then forgot Allah's teachings. She had assumed that to be crowned a Hafiza, she needed to look and act a specific way.

Everything came back to her intentions. When she first began memorizing the Qur'an, she wanted to make her parents proud and joyful on the day of judgment. She saw Hifz as a chance to finally thank them for all they had done for her in this life. As time passed, her plans changed.

Amina grew more focused on herself and realized that Allah's words could not enter her heart while she was memorizing them for someone else. At this point, her relationship with the Qur'an became more intimate and connected.
